When it comes to the soap, it is much easier to clean the oven with a greasy soap. Fat dissolves fat – like solves like principle. Dirt in the oven is often grease. What is not fat is residues from food (plant or animal kingdom) a rule of thumb for natural cleaning is to use something basic to remove residues from plant or animal kingdom. Västerbottens soap is both oily and alkaline.

Another advantage of solid soap is that it is so solid and thick that you can make a thick foam out of it without it running off the inner walls and ceiling of the oven.

    2. Work the soap with a little water over all surfaces of the oven. Some ovens have parts that can be taken apart and cleaned separately.

    3. Start the oven at 90 - 100 degrees for about 20 minutes to get extra effect set a bowl of water. That's the steam we want! Hot water and soap work well together.

    4. Now be careful when you start drying out of the oven! Let the water cool before you start drying out of the oven. Another option is to leave the oven with the soap in overnight and continue the next day. Use the ecofibre cloth when you dry and you will see that the dirt comes off very easily now. Wipe off with a damp cloth.

If the grill is badly burnt, it may need to be wrapped in plastic with soap and water and left overnight before being dried with an ecofibre cloth and water.

This is what it looks like when it's done!

We have put together a kit that contains everything you need: a pack of solid, concentrated and unscented soap 230ml, an eco-fibre cloth, a glass scraper and a small, coarse scrub brush. You will find the putty here.

     Questions and answers

    - Why do we recommend using a greasy soap to clean the oven?

Fatty soap is effective in dissolving grease and other food residues that can get stuck in the oven. Its fat content also makes it alkaline, which is effective in breaking down residues from the plant or animal kingdom.

    - Why is it important to let the oven warm up with soap and water before you start cleaning it?

By heating the oven and using steam from the hot water, it becomes easier to dissolve stubborn dirt and grease stuck to the surfaces of the oven. This then facilitates the cleaning process itself.

-Which tools do we recommend for cleaning the oven?

A sturdy brush of a harder model, an ecofibre cloth, water and solid soap is what we recommend for cleaning the oven! A glass pour scraper and a small, coarse scrub brush can also be useful for accessing hard-to-reach areas.

    - What is the advantage of using ecofibre cloth to dry out of the oven?

The Ecofiber cloth is effective for wiping away dirt and grease from the oven, while being gentle on the surface. Its absorbent properties allow it to remove dirt with minimal effort.
