Can pressure-treated wood be cleaned with soap?
Sara Idenfors
Yes, you can absolutely use soap on pressure-treated wood. Pressure treatment today is very effective, so you do not need to worry about your decking rotting or being damaged because you do not treat it with lots of chemicals in spring and autumn. This simply is not necessary when the timber is pressure-treated. What you can or should do is make sure the surface is suitable for spending time on, feels pleasant to walk on, and looks good. Another benefit is that the decking is easy to clean. In summer, you want as much time as possible for things other than washing and cleaning ;)
Feel free to use soap on your pressure-treated decking; it will make it silky smooth and pleasant to spend time on. The soap will remove algae and mold from older decking, as well as spills from all of summer’s parties.
