Can you use baking powder instead of baking soda for cleaning? Here’s the answer!

Many wonder if you can use baking powder instead of baking soda when you clean naturally.


The difference between baking soda and baking powder is that baking powder also contains acid and starch. When you add liquid to dough, the acid reacts with the baking soda and bubbles (carbon dioxide) are formed; what we see is that the pastry, the batter, rises and it's actually bubbles of carbon dioxide.


So, can you use baking powder instead of baking soda when cleaning?

-Well, it can work, but not nearly as effectively as if you use only pure baking soda. With baking powder, you also add starch, and then that also has to be cleaned away. So, a tip is to get and use baking soda instead if it is to be used for cleaning.
