Easily clean your balcony and patio

How do you clean the balcony and patio with soap?

To clean your balcony or patio effectively and gently, follow these steps:

1. Start by sweeping away leaves, dirt, and dust with a broom or brush.

2. Mix warm water with superfatted soap, such as Västerbottenssåpa, in a bucket.

3. Scrub the floor – preferably the decking – with the soap solution and a scrubbing brush.

4. Wipe railings, walls, and other surfaces with a cloth dipped in soapy water.

5. Let the surfaces dry in the sun for a fresh, naturally clean feel.

Using a natural, superfatted soap such as Västerbottenssåpa not only cleans – it also cares for wooden surfaces and gives them a soft, pleasant finish, while helping you make an environmentally friendly choice.

Here are our best cleaning tips for this particular weekend!

Wooden decking, balconies, and patio floors: Start by brushing away loose dirt, leaves, and gravel. Then use warm water and decking soap to effectively remove dirt, algae, and mould.

For light dirt: Dissolve approximately 1 dl of solid soap in 10 litres of warm/lukewarm water and scrub with a scrubbing brush.

For heavily soiled or discoloured decking: Apply solid soap directly to a coarse brush – it is included in our outdoor package – and scrub the surface thoroughly.

If you have stubborn stains, such as rings left by flowerpots, let the soap soak in for a few minutes before scrubbing. This type of dirt often penetrates deep into the wood and may require repeated treatments to draw it out.

Grill grates: Coat the grate and the inside of the grill with solid soap. Wait a while and clean with a root brush. Rinse with water and dry. It is a good idea to have a dedicated root brush for the grill, as soot can easily get stuck in the bristles. One tip is to use the small root brush primarily intended for root vegetables.

Outdoor furniture: Decking soap, water, and a root brush, or for lighter cleaning – decking soap and a cloth. Soap gives wooden furniture a beautiful surface (use soap sparingly on oak furniture).

Trampolines & other outdoor toys: Clean them like garden furniture / outdoor furniture.

Paintbrushes: Paintbrushes quickly become soft in a container with liquid soap and water.

Flowerpots: Flowerpots should be cleaned between each season, as pathogens, fungus, algae, and more may remain from the previous year's plants. Use solid soap, a scrubbing brush, and warm water. Then rinse with a garden hose.

Plastic rubbish bins: The rubbish bin quickly becomes dirty and smelly. Empty the bin, fill a bucket with warm water, and dissolve a generous amount of liquid soap in the water. Pour the soap solution into the bin and shake it well. It is a good idea to let the soap solution sit for a while before rinsing out the bin with the garden hose. Turn it upside down and let it dry; all the dirt and odour will be gone. Clean the outside at the same time with a sponge or root brush.
