Cleaning Challenge Before Christmas

Now it's time for a clean Christmas

Christmas should be a celebration of joy and the focus should be on the right things BUT many of us still like to do all this in a clean and tidy home anyway. So that you who want to can clean the house/apartment without it becoming a gigantic project, we have created a small cleaning challenge where you do one task each day and in this way the Christmas cleaning flows without becoming a mountain of work.
And as usual! Take it easy, it's not the end of the world if you miss a day or a task, the important thing is that Christmas becomes a nice holiday with laughter and good food, not that it is sparkling clean in every corner.

Things that can be good to have to complete the cleaning challenge

  • Christmas soap in pump bottle
  • Scrub brush hard
  • Scrub brush soft
  • Cloths
  • Sink Cleaning Set
  • Oven cleaning kit
  • Gloves
  • Waste bags
  • Dust brush
  • Microfiber cloth

1/12 Dust all the bookshelves.
Feel free to use a dust brush and a soft microfiber cloth. Then you can wipe the shelves with Christmas soap, preferably the spray model and a soft cloth.

2/12 Dust the radiators. Behind the radiators there is often dust and debris from the windowsills. Dust them today.
Then you can wipe with Christmas soap, preferably the spray model and a soft cloth.

3/12 Wipe windowsills and remove dry leaves. Maybe you replace the houseplants in the window with Christmas flowers and then it's a good day to do it today.

Then you can wipe the windowsills with Christmas soap, preferably the spray model and a soft cloth.

4/12 Christmas curtains. If you change to Christmas curtains, it is often a small project and it is a good idea to do it today.

5/12 The floor drains, perhaps the least pleasant place to clean, but it has to be done sometime and honestly, if you do this, it's enough for one day. Here you need proper stuff. Equip yourself with a waste bag for the unpleasant things that can be found in floor drains and gloves. After you have removed all loose parts, scrub the parts of the floor drain with a scrub brush, Christmas soap from the pump bottle, you need the stronger soap, not spray here. Rinse all parts and put back.

6/12 The shoe shelf in the hall, why is it often such a mess here? Remove shoes that are not in season, sweep or vacuum away gravel that has come in and sort hats and mittens.

7/12 Porch or veranda if you have one. Sweep, tidy up and maybe decorate with a couple of twigs or pine branches.

8/12 Clean the refrigerator and sort out expired goods. Wipe out all drawers and shelves and feel free to use kitchen soap that is unscented here.

9/12 Anna's Day, today the lutfisk is to be soaked and when you have done that, you can take a moment to clean the oven. Our website has a video showing how to do it and a kit for oven cleaning without harsh chemicals.

10/12 The kitchen fan needs to be cleaned regularly. It can become a fire hazard if it is not cleaned. Many people put the filters in the dishwasher. If that doesn't work with your filters, soak them in hot water and soap, it easily dissolves the greasy dirt.

11/12 Clean the sink and shower screen/bathtub thoroughly today.
Here you may need both bathroom soap, eco-fiber cloth and vinegar. Vinegar dissolves limescale and if you have cleaned your shower walls with soap and still have stains left then it is most likely limescale and then you need something acidic to remove the limescale. Vinegar is acidic and is ideal for this. Keep in mind that natural stone and marble, all calcareous stone is very sensitive to acidic agents.

12/12 WC, The toilet seat, detach it and scrub the toilet with a soft scrub brush. Don't forget the underside of the tank and the pipes into the toilet.
Use bathroom spray and a soft cloth here.

13/12 Lucia, today should only be celebrated not cleaned! Enjoy beautiful singing, gingerbread and saffron buns and don't forget to feel a little satisfied with how much Christmas cleaning you have actually done now!

14/12 Scrub clean all the house's tile/clinker joints with brush and soap.

You need soap in a pump bottle (spray is a little too weak here) and a scrub brush, preferably both a coarse and a soft one. Scrub the joints with hot water, soap and brush.

15/12 Dust skirting boards

16/12 Polish mirrors and faucets

17/12 Polish lamp shades, chandeliers and candlesticks.

18/12 The freezer, go through and defrost if necessary. Feel free to wipe out the freezer with kitchen soap that is completely unscented.

19/12 Change bed linen

20/12 The ventilation. There are a plethora of different solutions, but if your house has ventilation that needs to be dusted or goes through in some way, it is a good idea to do it today. It can do a lot for the feeling in the home and the air quality. If you have an air heat pump, it usually comes with instructions on how to clean it.

21/12 Wipe all cupboard doors, shelves and countertops in the kitchen. Here you can use soap spray kitchen or Christmas soap spray and a soft cloth.

22/12 Vacuum

23/12 Decorate, dress the tree and feel good! Tomorrow is Christmas Eve and the whole house is sparkling clean.
