Don't stress about cleaning.

Sara Idenfors

In this blog post, we discuss why it is okay not to always prioritize having a perfectly clean home. There are periods in life when cleaning cannot be the highest priority, and that is completely natural! Comparing your home with the perfect pictures on Instagram can create unnecessary anxiety about cleaning, but remember that these images often show only a small corner of reality. Everyone has things a little messy sometimes, and you are not the only one whose home is less than perfect.

There are periods in life when a perfectly clean home is not the number-one priority—accept it!

There will be periods in life when the children are no longer small, when you have time to iron everything and clean every corner, I promise!

It is easy to feel anxious about cleaning when you constantly see immaculate homes on Instagram that mostly resemble boutique hotels or furniture catalogs.

But I promise you, that is not the whole truth.

Often, it is just a small corner of the home that looks like that. If the camera had been turned around, there could very well be unfolded laundry and a sea of toys there. Remember that what you see on Instagram is not the whole truth. Everyone has things a little messy sometimes; it is not just your home that can be a bit untidy.

But surely many of us feel better and more comfortable with a bit of order and tidiness, and a certain amount of cleaning.

There are a few simple tips I would like to share. A few tips that make it easier to keep your home tidy a little longer and bring a bit more order.

1. Make sure you have effective systems for collecting paper, plastic, and glass. If it is easy and clear where everything should go, there will be less mess at home and it will also be easier to clean.

2. Do the same with the laundry. If there are several people in the family, laundry is definitely something that needs to be dealt with. Make sure everyone knows where dirty and clean, white and coloured laundry should be placed, and everything will become much easier.

3. Always take out the rubbish. Nothing disrupts and bothers you at home as much as an overflowing rubbish bag. Take out the rubbish to avoid bad smells and things being left in the kitchen.

4. Last but not least, this is the most difficult but also the best routine. Make a habit of always emptying the dishwasher and keeping the kitchen counter clean, and everything else will fall into place.

If you end the day with a clean kitchen counter, an empty rubbish bag, and an emptied dishwasher, the next day becomes so much easier and your morning routine runs smoothly!

Dusting and window cleaning can wait.
