Drains and floor traps, the worst cleaning! Here's how to do it!

Drains and floor drains, the worst cleaning! Here's how you do it!

This is not a favorite, and I think many agree with me!

Drains, the floor drain in the shower is not something you tackle with joy, but it is necessary from time to time. Many believe that this requires heavy-duty gloves, drain cleaner, and boiling water with a newspaper on top, but it's easier than many think to do without drain openers/cleaners, and besides, it gets properly clean when you do it right!

Equip yourself with plastic gloves and a waste bag so you have somewhere to put those unpleasant residues. And yes, throw this in the household waste. It's not much, and since there are soap residues and a bit of everything here, we wouldn't recommend putting it in the compost, especially if the compost soil is to be used for the vegetable garden.
So now it's just to go!
1. Lift the lid/grate over the floor drain.
2. Put on the plastic gloves and remove all loose dirt that is here. Put it in the waste bag.
3. Lift up the small "bucket" that is in all newer floor drains. Open it and remove all dirt.
4. Rinse with the shower hose.
5. Take the toilet brush (provided it's okay), otherwise get a special brush to be used only in the floor drain. Pour on liquid soap or take a dollop of solid soap. Scrub and rinse.

6. Now you see how easy it is with just regular soap, no super strong drain openers were needed.
7. Phew... that's done, and now I promise I'll do this a little more often, even though it's not the most fun thing 😉
