How often should you clean?

The answer depends on several factors such as household size, presence of pets or children, and the home itself.

A general guideline is to clean every week to keep the home fresh, while kitchens and bathrooms may require daily cleaning. In addition to this, a more thorough cleaning, such as a deep clean, is recommended a few times a year. How much time and how "tiresome" that cleaning is depends on the routines you create at home. If everyone in the home agrees and helps with: taking out the garbage continuously, sorting waste, starting the dishwasher, putting dirty laundry in laundry baskets, and so on, it won't be such a big job to do weekly cleaning. If, on the other hand, you save all the work for one and the same day, it becomes a bigger job.

A good routine we like to suggest is to never go to bed without having the kitchen sink free of dishes. That makes it easy to prepare and clean up breakfast the next morning when you're in a bit of a hurry (perhaps) without building "dish and garbage mountains" at home.

Questions and answers

1. How often should you clean?
Answer: Preferably once a week. But please read the text above.

2. Do you also have to do a deep clean?
Answer: No, but it's often good to go through and clean areas that are not used often once a year.

3. What role do routines play in cleaning?
Answer: Routines are important for continuously removing garbage, dishes, and laundry so that all cleaning does not accumulate at one time and thus become a big problem.
