How to get clean windows

Window cleaning can be easy if you follow a few basic steps to avoid streaks and achieve a sparkling result.

Here is a step-by-step guide:

If you have a lot of dirt on the glass, for example if you live near a road, the outside of the glass can fill with particles. These cannot be removed by just cleaning. They need to be removed before you start cleaning. No matter what cleaning solution you use, it will get "slimy" if you don't remove the road dust first.
You can think of it like washing a car: if the car is muddy, you can’t start polishing it; you need to wash off the mud first. The same goes for windows. The inside, however, is rarely so dirty that you can’t just clean it.

For a heavily soiled outside, do this:

1. Prepare the cleaning solution
- Warm water in a bucket
- A dash of dish soap, start with just one drop, often that will be enough.

2. Prepare the tools
- Window scraper: A good scraper is key.
- Microfiber cloth or sponge: To apply the cleaning solution.
- Towels or rags: To dry the window edges and catch excess water.

3. Clean the window
- Start by wiping the window frame and removing any dirt or dust. This prevents dirt from spreading when you start cleaning.
- Use your microfiber cloth or sponge to apply the cleaning solution to the window. Make sure to cover the entire surface.

4. Scrape off
- Use the window scraper to remove the solution. Start at the top of the window and pull the scraper in a straight line down.
- Wipe the scraper blade with a dry cloth after each stroke to avoid streaks.

5. Dry the edges
- Use a dry cloth to wipe the window frames and edges where excess liquid may have gathered. This helps prevent watermarks.

6. Check the result
- If you see any streaks or spots, use a dry microfiber cloth and Västerbottenssåpa's window cleaner. Spray on and polish with a dry cloth or a non-linting paper towel.

Tips:
- Clean the windows when it's cloudy: If you clean in direct sunlight, the windows may dry too quickly, which can lead to streaks.
- Work systematically: Start from the top and work your way down to avoid drops from the upper parts ruining the lower parts that are already cleaned.
- Remove any streaks with window cleaner and cloth/paper instead of starting over with the scraper.

Between the windows
Many windows can be divided, and unfortunately, dirt can sneak in here as well. But it’s rarely worse than you can use just window cleaner and a cloth. Spray on, wipe in sweeping motions from top to bottom. Västerbottenssåpa's window cleaner contains both a dissolving and a polishing component. The inside, the same as between the glass, applies to the inside. Spray on and wipe off for perfectly clean windows.
