This question comes up sometimes, and the answer is:
1. Throw away – gather all trash, sort and dispose of it. Empty all bins and garbage bags. Everything that doesn't belong should be removed. Paper recycling, returnable cans, plastic, metal, garbage, and compost. This is the very first step.
2. Load the dishwasher with everything that belongs in it and start it.
3. Gather laundry – towels, bed linens, and clothes that need washing – and take them to the laundry room.
4. Then start with the dirtiest area: clean the bathroom and don't bring cloths, brushes, and bottles into other rooms. Keep bathroom cleaning tools in the bathroom.
5. The kitchen – scrub the sink, stove, countertops, etc.
6. Top to bottom – dust from top to bottom, wipe windows, radiators, and baseboards.
7. Lastly, do the floors – vacuum and mop.

Questions and Answers
1. In what order do you clean?
The simple answer is: sort/throw away, do the dishes, do the laundry, dust/wipe, and lastly vacuum/wash the floors.
2. Doesn't top to bottom apply anymore?
Absolutely, it applies when you're wiping and dusting, but there's little point in dusting if you haven’t tidied up first.
3. Haven't we forgotten the baseboards?
Baseboards also need to be wiped, but you don’t have to do it that often. It’s totally okay to skip it now and then.
