inci-name-window cleaning

Sara Idenfors

This is how to read the ingredient list:

Genuine soft soap is made from oils and potassiumhydroxide instead of sodiumhydroxide, in this case potassium hydroxide, also known as caustic potash, creates soft soap crystals. Consequently, soap has an ingredient list with INCI names beginning with: Potassium. The names indicate that the soap consists of fatty acid salts (soft soap/soap) saponified with potassium hydroxide and the respective oil.

This does not mean that a “foreign chemical” has been added; it is simply the specific name of the soap that has formed and the oil/fat from which it was made. In everyday language, we say soap; in “chemical terminology,” soap made by boiling rapeseed oil is called: Potassium canolate. And Aqua—that's simply ordinary water.

Our window cleaner contains:
Aqua, Ethanol, 15-30% soap Potassium canolate (saponified rapeseed oil)
