How to easily clean a cutting board
Cleaning your cutting boards is very important
If you miss too much on this point, you could, in the worst case, become seriously ill. You need to be especially careful with chicken, fish, and meat. Never place vegetables or anything else that will not be heated on a cutting board where you have prepared raw chicken, meat, or fish. The cutting board AND knife should always be cleaned thoroughly between uses.
Cleaning wooden cutting boards with vinegar is NOT recommended; vinegar is acidic and will eventually cause the wood to split. Salt and lemon do not re-grease wood either. If you use any of these methods, you must also remember to oil your cutting boards. If you instead clean them with superfatted soap, the wood is re-greased while you clean it.
What about the lemon and salt—they absolutely work, BUT as someone who grew up in the harsh inland of Västerbotten near the mountains, we know what it takes to grow things …. The lemon deserves more respect than being turned into a “scrubbing sponge.” Someone has invested time and energy in growing and transporting that lemon, so do something good with it instead!
Here we show you how to clean a cutting board and make it free from bacteria using soap.

Here’s how to do it
1. Get a superfatted soap without added fragrance.
If you need to scent your kitchen with fragranced cleaning products, there are probably one or more places in the kitchen that need to be cleaned better. Don’t cover up dirt in the kitchen with perfumes—clean it properly and the kitchen will smell good, without risking getting perfume in your food.

“Did you know that when the ingredients list says Perfume, it may conceal up to 40 different chemicals!”
2. Get a somewhat rougher brush of some kind. A cloth is not enough—it needs to be at least a dish brush.
3. Then clean the cutting board by scrubbing it with hot water, superfatted soap, and a brush in the direction of the wood grain. A plastic cutting board can be cleaned in any direction.
4. Rinse it off and test again—if the soap suds are now white and clean, then the cutting board is clean. If the suds are still brown with dirt, it needs another round with the brush.
5. Let the cutting board dry thoroughly, preferably upright.
