To scrub rugs with soap
Sara IdenforsLast weekend, we finally had the chance to scrub our rugs in the lovely spring weather. With an enamel bucket from Kockums and solid VästerbottensSåpa on the dock, we used our organic scrubbing brush to scrub our blue rag rugs.

Over the past weekend, the sun finally came out, and we quickly headed out onto the dock to scrub the rugs. Lovely spring air and a fresh breeze, but warm water in the bucket still made it a truly pleasant time.
We chose to use the solid soap because it is practical to use with an ordinary panel scrubbing brush. A dollop of soap is much easier to distribute over a rug than liquid soap, which is immediately absorbed into the material. With the solid version, you can easily add the right amount of water and soap to create a suitably thick lather.

We scrubbed both sides of the rugs (as described above) with lukewarm water, a brush, and solid VästerbottensSåpa, then rinsed them with water and hung them up to dry in the spring breeze. Clean rugs with a wonderful juniper scent were the result.

The rug in the picture was, by coincidence, woven by Aunt Sonja Winther, whose mother was Fredrika Helmersson, the great-grandmother with the original recipe for the soap. This is a small family story signed by the Helmersson family, continuing from one generation to the next.
