HP Sauce

Wet the stain until the textile fibers stop absorbing more water; they should be saturated with water. Apply soap to the stain and work it in, rinse again with lukewarm water, and repeat until the stain is “gone.” Machine-wash according to the care instructions.

 

Ice Pop

Discoloration from an ice pop is usually caused by coloring from the frozen “juice.” Wet with lukewarm water, treat with soap and a brush/sponge. If the color remains (blue dye can be particularly difficult), treat the stain with glycerin, leave it to work for at least 20 minutes, and then remove the glycerin with laundry detergent. Wash according to the care instructions.

 

Coffee

Remove the stain as soon as possible with lukewarm water and dish soap. Remember that the textile fibers need to be completely wetted. 

If the stain has been there for a long time, wet it with lukewarm water. Apply glycerin and let the stain sit with the glycerin on it. Then wash away the glycerin with soap and lukewarm water, and machine-wash according to the care instructions.

 

Vomit

Pick up as much as possible with paper towels and throw them into a trash bag that you can tie shut and discard immediately. Plastic gloves are useful to have.

Pour plenty of baking soda over the entire stain and let it absorb moisture from the material. If the material has absorbed some of the vomit, it may need to be washed with laundry detergent and water. Fill a bucket with a small amount of all-purpose detergent and water. Dip a towel into the detergent solution and press it against the stain. Absorb the moisture with an old towel between each wash.

 

Curcumin 
Curcumin is a very strong dye found in turmeric and is included in curry blends. It is generally very difficult to remove, especially from light-colored garments. The basic rule is always to saturate the textile fiber with water before attempting to remove the stain. Step one is crucial to the final result.

  1. Rinse immediately in cold water – Avoid hot water, which can set the stain.
  2. Treat with dish soap or soap – Work the product into the stain and leave it for a few minutes.
  3. Use an acid—lemon or vinegar – Apply and leave it to work before washing.
  4. Sun-dry the fabric – Curcumin is naturally bleached by UV light, so leaving the fabric in the sun can help.
  5. Wash at a high temperature – If the fabric can tolerate it, machine-wash it.

 

Mud

Mud is not particularly difficult to remove; much of it can be dealt with simply by waiting. Let the garment dry completely. Take the garment outside and shake or beat it so that most of the mud falls away as dust. Pre-treat difficult mud stains on light-colored garments with soap and a brush. Then machine-wash according to the care instructions.

 

Food 

Food is often greasy but can also contain strong colors, so feel free to search our alphabetical stain blogs for more specific tips. 

However, most food is actually greasy, and grease dissolves grease, so wet the stain completely and treat it with greasy soap. The stain remover from Västerbottenssåpa works well. 

Then wash according to the garment’s care instructions.

 

Cooking Oil

If there is a larger amount of cooking oil, first try to absorb as much of the grease as possible with cornmeal or potato starch. Scrape off or shake out the residue while the stain still feels damp with grease. Then wet the stain with lukewarm water and treat it with soap. Rinse and repeat before machine-washing according to the care instructions.

 

Rosehip Soup

Wet the stain with lukewarm water, treat it with stain-removing soap/soap and a sponge/brush. Repeat until the stain is gone. Then machine-wash according to the care instructions.
