Wash at 30 degrees instead of 40?

Should you wash at 30°C or 40°C?

It's simply a matter of thinking a little. A lot actually gets clean at 30°C, but not everything. Think like this: How warm am I? The answer is probably about 37°C. If you then have, for example, chocolate stains on your clothes, you know that the chocolate melts if you hold it in your hand for a long time, but it doesn't happen very quickly. If you then wash a garment in colder water than 37°C, i.e., 30°C, then the detergent and the machine's mechanical washing function do not get much help from the temperature - therefore greasy stains and greasy dirt may require a higher temperature. It is simply not reasonable that the chocolate should be able to be washed away with "cold" water.

So if we try to think a little like that with everything, we have a much greater chance of succeeding with the laundry. Of course, you should always read the washing instructions in the garments and follow them.

Another advantage of lowering the washing temperature is that it is energy-intensive and expensive to heat water, so washing in colder water saves energy and the environment. BUT if your clothes don't get clean and you choose to buy new clothes, then that environmental gain is gone. It is always better to wash and repair and let the garments last a long time than to save a little on the washing temperature.

To ensure that your clothes get really clean, regardless of whether you choose to wash at 30°C or 40°C, it is important to use a detergent that is adapted to handle all types of dirt and stains. Our detergent is developed to work optimally at both lower and higher temperatures, which makes it a perfect choice regardless of how you choose to wash.

Questions and answers

1. Do you save energy by washing at a lower temperature?

Yes, you do. It is energy-intensive to heat water.

2. If my garments don't get clean at 30°C as the washing instructions say, should I throw them away then?

No, then you try pre-treating the stains and washing in warmer water. Throwing away and buying new should always be your last option.

3. Can I wash away chocolate with cold water?

It will be difficult. Chocolate and other greasy dirt are easier to remove at higher temperatures.
