1. Keep it tidy outside.
A sturdy broom makes it easy to keep steps and patios slip-free. It gets a little more fun with a nice broom, maybe even with a knitted stick warmer. Bags very easily get small holes, and there is often some flour hidden in the folds of the bag that will leak out and make your pantry messy. A tin jar with flour in it is easy to close properly, and it's also easy to wipe off and keep clean around. The difference between storing flour in a tin jar versus having it in the bag is significant, so the work of transferring pays off in the long run.
6. Start a "reduce plastic" project.
Some people do everything at once, but it's much easier to replace things gradually. Reducing plastic means replacing plastic that may contain harmful chemicals with natural materials. It's most common to start in the kitchen with plastics whose toxins you risk ingesting through food. So, number one is to replace plastic utensils that come into direct contact with food with wood or glass. Go through your kitchen drawers and see what you can spare and what you should replace.
