In the past, all soap was solid.

Sara Idenfors

In the past, all soap came in solid form.

The liquid variety is a modern phenomenon.

Soap used to come in solid form; it was so thick that it was packed and sold in packages, as butter is sold in stores today. Our solid soap is just like that. When buying solid soap, make sure to choose one that is truly solid. If you get a sticky soap with a consistency more like filmjölk, then you are not looking at the old-fashioned variety. Solid soap was stored either in its package or in an enameled “tub.” This was found in almost every household in the past.

When and how do you use solid soap?

When cleaning vertical surfaces
– Take a dab on an eco-fiber cloth or sponge, moisten lightly, and work up a thick lather. It will stay in place rather than running off like cleaning spray. Leave it to work, then wipe with a damp cloth. You can rinse off shower walls.

The oven
– The oven: Rub solid soap into the oven with a little water, then set the oven to low heat for a few minutes. Then scrub it out with a scrubbing brush, sponge, or vegetable brush. Wipe thoroughly.

Tile grout / Bathroom
– Apply a dab of solid soap to the scrubbing brush. Scrub and wipe dry.
Bathroom: Apply a dab of solid soap to a damp sponge if there are, for example, soap and limescale deposits. Work up a lather and leave it for a minute or so. Rinse / wipe dry.
For heavy-duty cleaning of tile grout, use a damp root brush and solid soap, leave to work, then rinse / wipe dry.
Toilet: Clean with a damp cloth and a dab of solid soap. In the toilet,  use liquid soap, scrub with the toilet brush, and leave to work. Then flush.

Stainless steel sink.
– Take a dab on an eco-fiber cloth or sponge. Moisten, scrub, rinse clean, and wipe dry.

5  Stain removal.
– Take a dollop of solid soap and apply it with a moderately stiff brush or an ecofiber cloth. The ecofiber cloth works well for coarse clothing such as outerwear and work clothes, while a laundry brush is better for other, finer materials. (laundry brushes are available here) dampen and scrub the stain. Wash as usual in the machine according to the care instructions. Works especially well on greasy stains.

Cast iron
– Cast iron should never be degreased. Surely you have heard that you must not use dish soap on cast iron. That is true! But a fatty soap is an entirely different matter. When you have a burnt cast-iron pot or pan, you can use solid, superfatting soap together with an old-fashioned dish brush made of rice root. It is highly effective and does not damage the cast iron.

Scrub carpets
– Put a dollop of soap on the scrub brush, then all you have to do is scrub.

Mop bucket
No, it is much quicker to use liquid soap, which dissolves immediately in the mop water.
Of course, you can dissolve the soap and use it in the mop bucket, but then you have to be prepared for it to take a couple of minutes for the solid soap to dissolve in warm water.

10 Toilet cleaner
No, it is much quicker to use liquid soap, which dissolves immediately in the toilet bowl. Use liquid soap instead of strong toilet cleaners. It works just as well and is gentler both on you and the environment.  Use a basic superfatting soap for this. All dirt that comes from plants or animals is most easily removed with a basic product. A soap that contains little soap and a lot of water therefore does not work as well here as a strong soap.

Of course, there are many, many other tips for using solid soap. These are just a few examples.

Dosage

Dose solid soap as follows: 1-3 tbsp per 10l of warm water. Dissolve the soap in the warm water. The solid soap is very highly concentrated. Bear in mind that one jar corresponds to 1.4l of liquid soap, so it takes a while to dissolve such a concentrated product. Use slightly warmer water and work/whisk the soap in the water for a little while, and it will dissolve. If you primarily use soap to mop floors, we recommend the liquid version, which dissolves immediately.

Also try applying a little soap to one of our scrubbing or dish brushes to clean, for example, the sink or oven.

The soap is excellent for washing and cleaning vertical surfaces such as tiled walls in kitchens and bathrooms.

Apply the concentrated soap to a sponge with a little lukewarm water, work it in, and preferably leave it on for a few minutes. Then rinse it off.

Using liquid soap!

Dose liquid soap as follows: 3-6 tbsp per 10l of warm water. It dissolves immediately in the water.

Storage

Store at room temperature. If the soap is stored in a cold place or even freezes, it may change colour and become lighter. However, this does not affect its function. Dissolve your soap as usual in warm water.
This is a cleaning product and should of course not be consumed!
Like all other cleaning products, it should be stored out of reach of children & separately from food.

Saponified vegetable cooking oil.

Juniper-scented soap >0.1% juniper fragrance

Christmas soap >0.1% ginger fragrance

No other additives.
Because the product contains no preservatives, it may become white on the surface, especially if the jar is stored without its lid; this does not affect its function. The product may also vary in consistency, depending on the temperature and raw materials. (Not all vegetable oils are the same.) Sort the packaging as rigid plastic (PET).
