Mop the floors in the traditional way with a mop / mop

This is how you do it

 1. Start by putting things away and then vacuuming. It is very important to vacuum first otherwise the dirt will move around and the result will not be good at all. In the worst case scenario, you can even scratch the floors with grit pulled into the mop.

2. Fill a bucket with warm water. There should be enough to ALMOST reach the wringer (the little basket that sits on top of the scrubbing bucket) Add soap . If you are unsure whether soap suits your floor - then read our blog about what suits which floor here . If you use the wrong or too much soap, the floor can become streaky or sticky.

3. Use a clean mop / cotton swab. There are many different variants to choose from. We think you should choose a variant that can be washed and reused many times. Now wet the mop in the bucket with water and soap, the mop should be completely wet before you wring it out.  Spin the mop in the clockwise direction and press.

4. Start at the far end of the room and mop your way towards the door in sweeping motions. The mop should be used as you use a dishcloth, you should sweep with dirt and dust. Loose dirt and dust should be swept up, not thrown or directed around the room.

5. Now put the mop in the bucket again, wet it thoroughly. Then take the handle between your hands and roll the handle around so that the mop yarn spins violently in the bucket - then you get as much dirt out as possible. Unscrew in the counterclockwise and mop again.

6. If your floor is really dirty, you may need to change the water and refill with soap . For very dirty floors, this step may need to be repeated several times. Remember to always mop out of the room so you don't have to walk over the part of the floor you've already mopped.

7. Do not use too much water for sensitive floors, they can then be damaged. Parquet is one such example.

8. Start with the bedrooms and the kitchen. Then hall and last of all the bathroom. Absolutely last of all, you move the toilet seat around, this way you avoid any bacteria being moved from the bathroom to the kitchen.

9. Corners can be tricky. If you cannot get the dirt out of the corners, turn the freshly rinsed mop in the corner and push into the corners and the dirt will be pushed out.

10. Then wash the mop, preferably after each time you mop - if you bother here, in any case, rinse the mop thoroughly and let it dry. Never put the mop wet in the bottom of the bucket as it can turn sour and bacteria can start to grow.

11. The bucket must of course also be rinsed out.
