The question should probably be what was the green soap used for. Green soap is no longer manufactured in Sweden. It stopped being produced when hemp cultivation was banned in Sweden. After that, the demand for the green soap you remember from the past has remained. That's why yellow soap has been dyed green and sold as green soap (if it's green then...) but that's not what we mean by green soap.
The green soap was thick and fine and was used for most things at home, from hand washing to carpet cleaning, to the shed floors and it is even said that it was a common "home remedy" to cure nail biting.
