About the Product

For every cloth sold, we donate SEK 10 to breast cancer research.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and of course we want to contribute. We asked our followers to submit ideas for a design for a cloth that symbolizes hope and strength.

The winning idea came from Maria. She told us about the trail marker cross—a cross that marks the way in the mountains when the fog is thick and the wind is strong. The cross helps you find your way, bit by bit, even in difficult times. A beautiful symbol of never losing your direction.

The result was a dishcloth featuring a pink trail marker cross against a pink sky. For every cloth sold, SEK 10 goes to the Swedish Breast Cancer Association.

What sets Västerbottenssåpa apart from “ordinary” soaps bought at the grocery store?

Västerbottenssåpa is a circular product made from reused, purified, and saponified rapeseed oil—entirely without new oil raw materials. The soap has properties similar to linseed oil soap and is naturally superfatted. This means it retains a greater surplus of nourishing oils after saponification than ordinary soap from the grocery store, making it especially effective, conditioning, and replenishing for your surfaces.

Let us tell you how it all fits together

Because the soap is made from recycled raw materials—that is, it is circular—the product’s CO2 emissions are very low. One bottle of soap, including production, packaging, and transportation, has CO2 emissions of approximately 237 g. This can be compared with the emissions from producing 1 kg of palm oil, which are approximately 10 kg.

  • Canola oil is produced as a food product

  • Rapeseed oil is used by restaurants throughout the country.

  • Västerbottenssåpa sources the oil that is purified at the small factory in Vilhelmina. It is then saponified into soft soap.

  • The soap will be mailed to you.
