Bicarbonate is an excellent adjunct to soap for household cleaning, as it effectively removes any dirt from the plant or animal kingdom that is not made up of fat (all greasy stains are best cleaned with soap).
Because bicarbonate is basic and has a high pH value, it is often used as a bleaching agent and to remove stubborn stains from clothes.
In addition to gentle abrasive properties, bicarbonate is effective in dissolving dirt, removing bad odors and removing stains.
From August 2023, the bicarbonate is sold in a resealable, unbleached bag instead of the previous packaging/can.

💡 Användbara tips:

Förvara bikarbonat i kylskåpet för att ta bort dålig lukt

Bikarbonat kan användas som en enkel "kemtvätt" för bäddmadrasser och soffor. Strö bikarbonat på ytan och låt verka i 15 minuter innan du dammsuger upp det. Samma gäller för mattor som inte går i tvättmaskinen.

Om dina vita kläder ser dassiga ut, tillsätt lite bikarbonat i nästa tvätt, tillsammans med vanligt tvättmedel.

Rengör smycken genom att lägga dem i vatten med bikarbonat. Låt verka i 10 minuter och skölj sedan av.

What makes Västerbottens soap different from "regular" soaps that you buy in the grocery store?
Västerbotten soap has similar properties to a linseed oil soap, which is thus an overfatted soap. Other soaps that you buy in e.g. the grocery store is not overfat and therefore not as efficient. Soaps and soaps have varying amounts of excess oils and fats, that is, the part of fat that remains after saponification. Västerbottens soap has a larger surplus and is therefore extra caring and re-greasing.

Because the soap is made from recycled raw materials, i.e. is circular, the CO2 emissions for the product are very low. A bottle of soap including production, packaging and transport has a CO2 emission of approx. 237 g. This can be compared to the emissions for producing 1 kg of palm oil, which is approx. 10 kg.
