Friends in saponification for a long time, that's us!

Malin in Ratan has been making her organic, genuine soaps for almost exactly as long as we at Västerbottenssåpa have been making our circular soap. We met in the world of saponification, in the magic that turns fats into fantastic compounds of fatty acids, or as you muggles say, soap.
Malin, who is based in Ratan, (You might know Ratan from the history books, the Battle of Ratan took place on August 20, 1809, in Ratan in Västerbotten during the Finnish War of 1808–1809. This was the last time Swedes and Russians fought against each other.) and we, who are based in Vilhelmina, the inland and mountain regions, have in a funny way put Västerbotten on the saponification map with our ideas about organic, circular, local, and Swedish-made. Surprisingly little is manufactured in Sweden today. You can have different opinions about that, but being able to manufacture things locally is always good in times when trade between countries is uncertain.
Blue dot = Vilhelmina. Red dot = Ratan.

Here is a picture from one of Malin's events, the opening of the new soap shop, factory, and café in Ratan (Note! Put it on the list of summer destinations) where we soap-scrubbed garden furniture to show a little how it works when wood and soap meet and love arises ;) See the upper right corner of the table in the picture.
What is the difference between us then? -Well, Malin concentrates on soap and body care products, while our focus is on cleaning and laundry.

Malin knows a lot about herbs and oils, skin and hair, and we know a good deal about materials and dirt and cleaning.

And now we'll do this, to really celebrate that the lavender laundry detergent is finally out for sale, you get a lavender scented soap from Malin in Ratan as a gift.
The first 100 who buy a two or four-pack of our lavender-scented laundry detergent will receive a handmade soap from Malin's own production. That way, you get to experience the saponification magic from all of Västerbotten.
How do I know if I am one of the first 100? As long as the soap is automatically added to the shopping cart on the website, you are one of them!
