The Vilhelmina Mountains in Summer

You can certainly visit the Vilhelmina mountains in the summer. If you do, you'll encounter a relaxed and pleasant mountain environment, guaranteed completely without expensive brand stores. This morning we woke up to +10°C and rain showers. Since we had already decided yesterday that this Saturday would be a free Saturday, it became a mountain trip with hope for better weather. And you know what, Vojmådalen offered a break in the rain and perfectly okay mountain weather.

Dikanäs is truly one of my favorite places, it's so nice in Dikanäs and they also have perhaps Sweden's coziest café and that doesn't make things any worse.

A completely lovely little pie with vanilla custard and fantastic coffee was a nice touch, and on top of that, a flea market visit.

There's something special about mountain villages that are still mountain villages <3

The only downside of the day was that we actually missed Bojtikken HillBillyBand. #Typical

After visiting both the flea market and the cafe, we continued on to Kittelfjäll.

In Kittelfjäll there is a climbing route for professional climbers who have harnesses and ropes and hooks and stuff, we are not really in that league but got quite high anyway.

Few things can make you as hungry as a little mountain hiking with a good view. The boys needed food right away and the Värdshuset in Kittelfjäll (which, by the way, is very, very high class) hadn't had time to open yet, so we headed for Henriksfjäll and Pensionat Granen.

Few things are as luxurious as being served mountain fish (wild-caught of course by the restaurateur himself) I choose to quote Christina Schollin on this: Luxury, luxury, luxury!

A selection of pictures from our little company. Pavlova, tiramisu with a twist.

Many places want a lot but offer little, but Pensionat Granen is the real, genuine mountain hospitality. I'm sorry to say it, but if you really want to experience this, you probably have to seek this out. It's a bit of a trip but sometimes you have to travel a bit to experience unpretentious, genuine mountain life. There aren't many places where the owner himself arranges fish for the kitchen, you know!

Full, happy and satisfied, we headed home. A great day to be a tourist at home.
