1. Add ½ dl of baking soda to your whites; baking soda has a natural bleaching effect.
2. Has your washing machine or tumble dryer turned yellow? Mix one part baking soda with four parts warm water. Spread the mixture evenly over the machines, leave it for 10 minutes, and then wipe it off. 
3. White socks or workout clothes with an unpleasant odor: soak them in baking soda and water for 1 hour before washing them in the machine. 
4. Sweat stains or a yellowed collar. Mix 2–3 tbsp of baking soda, ½ dl of vinegar, and a little lemon juice. Mix everything and treat the stain. Leave it for at least 30 minutes before washing according to the care instructions, and the stains will disappear.
5. Clean the washing machine drum with baking soda; it neutralizes odors and cleans. Mix ½ dl of baking soda with a little warm water to make a paste. Apply it with a scouring sponge and wipe the inside of the machine, including the rubber seals. Put any remaining paste in the machine and run it on its fastest cycle.
6. You can also clean the iron with baking soda. Put water and baking soda on a sponge or cloth and clean the surface. Use a cotton swab to clean the steam holes. Wipe clean.
7. Tobacco smoke in clothes. Soak the garments in water with a little baking soda, then wash according to the care instructions and the tobacco smell will disappear.
8. Chlorine smell that won't go away from swimwear? Do as above.
9. Urine on a mattress. Blot up as much as possible with a towel, pressing against the stain. Then sprinkle with baking soda and wait 30 minutes. Vacuum or brush up the baking soda and repeat.

3. Cat urine: cover it with baking soda, leave it to work, and then clean it up. This works both for stains and for the litter box itself. 
4. Guinea pigs and hamsters: clean their belongings with baking soda and water to neutralize bad odors. 
5. Fishing trips are enjoyable, but if you catch fish, gloves, the fishing bag, jacket, and various other items can all acquire a distinctive fishy smell. Neutralize it by cleaning them with baking soda and water.

1. Smelly and unclean hairbrushes: clean them with soap and water, then place them in a solution of baking soda and warm water to remove any lingering bad odors. 
2. If dirt is stuck on bathroom porcelain and you feel that an abrasive cream cleaner is needed, choose soap and baking soda instead. Both are alkaline, and the baking soda provides the abrasive effect.
3. Shower curtains easily become dirty and stale. Remove greasy dirt with soap and a brush, then soak them in baking soda and water before washing according to the care instructions. Pay extra attention to the seams at the bottom and top, where dirt tends to collect.
