General cleaning day at home in the village

Today's post takes a closer look at cleaning days in the village and how joint efforts can work wonders to spring clean and prepare common areas for the summer season!

Last Saturday was the general cleaning day at home in the village. We have some common areas and premises that need to be cleaned thoroughly from time to time.

The whole thing involves some nailing, screwing, painting and fixing with wood, but also a little ordinary soap scrubbing, nice, nice ;)

And it's actually nice even if it might seem that way just because I happen to like soap scrubbing. We actually make sure to make the whole thing enjoyable. After cleaning, there's a barbecue, and last night the table was set for 19 hungry people who had cleaned and prepared for the summer. Unfortunately, we were all a little too hungry, so there are no pictures from that part.

But I managed to capture the cleaning in small, short moments.

We were able to clean our nice bathhouse despite the very high water level; right now, a lot of meltwater is flowing into all the waterways here. But the cabin itself is clean and waiting for bathers. I took care of the windows because I was very "eager" to test our new window cleaner on really tough dirt.

Just look at the glass door into the sauna.

I didn't do any heavy cleaning before polishing here (you can use dish soap/soap warm water and a soft sponge, go over it and then scrape before polishing) But here I went straight for window cleaner and cloth.

Do you see the shine? It's almost hard to see that there's a glass door here! I feel so happy that this product works as well as it does; it's really something I pat myself on the back for. This turned out really well!

Then I took care of the outdoor furniture while the others took care of walls, floors and other surfaces in the bathhouse (with soap, of course). The furniture was a bit stained and dusty, so I wiped them down with a soft cloth and soap spray (apple).

After that, it was time to walk up Per-Olovsbacke and tackle Byastugan, the old schoolhouse.

Here the kitchen is renovated and very fresh, BUT we usually have between 60 and 70 people at the Easter party, for example, so the kitchen is used almost like a commercial kitchen and it's not just 3dl of cream being whipped for dessert ;) A lot of food is handled in here, so the tiles needed to be scrubbed, a sponge, soap on a pump and warm water, and then you go over the entire surface before wiping off, and voila, there are no traces of Easter's festive food here.

A small accident was that the coffee maker, a large model, the kind that cafes and restaurants have, had broken down, and behind it was black with dirt. This time, it's not enough to just wipe a little... here you need soap, warm water and a brush. Then you can wipe it clean.

Dried and black...
Here, soap in a pump bottle is preferable to spray. Heavy dirt = pump bottle.
Light dirt = spray bottle.
Scrub with brush, warm water and soap
Wipe off! Done, and the new coffee maker can move in.

Lovely day! Think what the feeling of clean can do, and think how lucky we are to live right here and have these fine neighbors and friends.
